How to Get a User's Location on WhatsApp Using a Flow Builder

In this tutorial, I'll guide you on how to obtain a user's location on WhatsApp using a flow builder. This is particularly useful for businesses that need location-based data for services or customer interactions. Here's how to set it up:

  1. Create a Message Block:

    • Start by creating a message block in your flow builder.

    • Ensure the message type is set to WhatsApp.

  2. Add Content:

    • Click on "Add Content" and choose "Get User Data."

    • Set the reply type to "Location."

  3. Save the Location:

    • Select the custom field where the user's location (latitude and longitude) will be saved.

    • Once the user shares their location, it will be stored in the custom field you've selected.

  4. Check the Data:

    • You can view the saved location details, including latitude and longitude, directly from the inbox.

  5. System Fields for Location:

    • Two system fields automatically store the last latitude and longitude shared by the contact:

      • Last Latitude: Saves the last latitude of the shared location.

      • Last Longitude: Saves the last longitude of the shared location.

  6. View on Google Maps:

    • Use the provided URL format to view the contact's location on Google Maps.

This method allows you to seamlessly integrate location sharing into your WhatsApp automation, enhancing user interactions based on their geographical data.
